Getting Your Child Started
-
Create an Account
Visit the app and help your child sign up with an email address. This saves their progress so they can continue learning on any device.
-
Set Up the Device
Make sure sound is enabled and consider using headphones for better focus. Test the audio by clicking any speaker button.
-
Start in Letters Land
New learners should begin with the first world to build a strong foundation in letter sounds.
-
Establish a Routine
10-15 minutes of daily practice is more effective than longer, infrequent sessions.
Linking to Your Child's Account
As a parent, you can link to your child's account to monitor their learning progress. Here's how it works:
Step-by-Step Linking Process
-
Create a Parent Account
Register at the app and select "Parent" as your role during sign-up.
-
Your Child Generates a Link Code
Your child goes to Settings → Parent Link and clicks "Generate Link Code". They'll receive an 8-character code like
ABCD1234. -
Your Child Shares the Code
They tell you the code (verbally, text message, etc.). The code expires in 24 hours.
-
Enter the Code
In your Parent Dashboard, click "Link Child" and enter the code. A link request will be created.
-
Your Child Approves the Request
Your child will see a pending request in their Settings. Once they approve it, you're linked!
-
View Progress
You can now view your child's XP, level, streak, completed lessons, and achievements from your Parent Dashboard.
What You Can See
Once linked, your Parent Dashboard shows:
- XP and Level - Overall learning progress
- Current Streak - Days of consecutive practice
- Completed Lessons - Which lessons they've finished
- Phoneme Mastery - Which sounds they've learned
- Recent Activity - When they last practiced
- Achievements - Badges and milestones unlocked
How the App Works
The 4-Phase Learning Model
Every lesson follows a proven structure that builds skills progressively:
Listen
Your child hears correct pronunciation and sees how to form sounds with mouth animations
Practice
They try making the sounds themselves with feedback to guide improvement
Play
Fun games reinforce learning and make practice enjoyable
Assess
A short quiz tests understanding and awards stars (1-3) based on performance
The 5 Learning Worlds
Your child will progress through 5 themed worlds, each building on the previous one:
Letters Land
Individual letter sounds - the building blocks of reading (Ages 9-10)
Word City
Blending sounds into simple words like "cat" and "dog" (Ages 10-11)
Sentence Street
Reading and understanding simple sentences (Ages 11-12)
Paragraph Park
Connected text reading with expression (Ages 12-13)
Story Kingdom
Fluent reading of longer passages (Ages 13-15)
